Low-Life’s Bar
“Low-Life’s Bar” is a time-period piece set in the 1950s about a seventeen-year-old bar-back, Mac, who gives out off-hand advice to the clientele of his uncle’s bar. The advice ultimately ends in Mac’s favor by getting others to do his dirty work.
This short was one of the first screenplays I’ve written. The true nature Uncle Barry’s business and Mac’s past are revealed over the course of the story.
I have included an excerpt of the screenplay below. The first scene picks up when Henry— an entry-level banker hoping to rise the corporate ladder— enters the bar to speak to Mac.
